Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt’s life has already been immortalised on the big screen in Sanju, a film that continues to be celebrated for Ranbir Kapoor’s powerhouse performance. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the biopic traced the highs and lows of Dutt’s controversial yet compelling journey with honesty and warmth.

Even today, Ranbir’s portrayal of Sanjay Dutt is widely considered one of the finest performances of his career, earning praise for capturing the actor’s vulnerability, swagger, and resilience in equal measure.
Why Sanjay Dutt Didn’t Play Himself in Sanju?
Interestingly, when the topic of Sanju came up during Sanjay Dutt’s appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show- where he was promoting his historical drama Panipat- the actor addressed why he didn’t play himself in the film. In his signature laid-back style, Dutt responded to Kapil Sharma’s question with humour, saying, “How many pictures should I do?”
He added that others should also get the opportunity to shine. At this point, Kriti Sanon jumped into the conversation and reminded everyone that Panipat was a special film for Dutt as it marked his 200th movie in the film industry, drawing applause from the audience.
A Surprising Biopic Choice
The light-hearted chat soon took an unexpected and hilarious turn. Kapil Sharma asked Sanjay Dutt if he ever got the chance to do a biopic, whose life would he like to portray. After a dramatic pause, Dutt dropped a name that no one saw coming- Donald Trump.
The studio erupted in laughter.
Explaining his choice, Dutt said, “Bindass admi hai, kuch bhi bol deta hai,” perfectly summing up the former US President’s unfiltered and outspoken personality.
His comment instantly struck a chord with the audience, given Trump’s reputation for controversial and often headline-grabbing statements.
When Global Politics Turns Childish
Adding to the humour, Kapil Sharma recalled a widely discussed social media exchange between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump. Kim had once posted that he had a nuclear bomb and its switch was on his table. Trump’s sharp reply claimed that even his button was on the table- and that it was much bigger.

Kapil joked that despite being presidents of powerful nations, they “fight like kids,” adding that in comparison, “we have done nothing.”
Sanjay Dutt’s candid remarks once again proved that when it comes to wit and humour, he knows how to keep both Bollywood and world politics thoroughly entertained.
