RK Studios 2.0: Ranbir Kapoor’s 20-year vision rises in Andheri with a high-tech twist!

In a move that blends nostalgia with next-gen ambition, Ranbir Kapoor is reportedly scripting a new chapter for the iconic RK Studios. The actor has leased five expansive floors at the Kanakia Wall Street Commercial Building in Andheri East, Mumbai, for 20 years- signalling a bold revival of the legendary banner founded by his grandfather, Raj Kapoor, in 1948.

After the sale of the original Chembur property to Godrej Properties for ₹180 crore, this new address could soon become the beating heart of the Kapoor creative empire.

A Studio Built for the Future

Reportedly, spread across a reported 250,000 sq ft (though some sources cite 9,000 sq ft), the new facility is envisioned as a cutting-edge content powerhouse.

Reports suggest, the first floor will house a primary 15,000 sq ft LED volume soundstage with 1.5 mm pixel-pitch panels in a 270° curved configuration- enabling real-time, ray-traced virtual environments at 60 fps. Four additional virtual stages will connect to an AI-driven server farm. The second floor is earmarked for VFX units and family offices, supported by an 800-node AI-accelerated server ecosystem.

Music and post-production dominate the third floor, featuring 12 recording studios, 25 editing bays, 8 dubbing suites- and a mini temple at its centre, keeping tradition intact. The fourth floor includes two private screening theatres with a combined 200 seats and 30 distribution rooms.

Finally, the fifth floor offers 40 luxury green rooms, a 400-seat cafeteria, and climate-controlled storage for 12,000 legacy RK memorabilia pieces.

A Family-Led Renaissance

The studio will reportedly be helmed by Ranbir and Karisma Kapoor, with offices for Neetu Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, and Nitasha Nanda within the premises. Clearances, including High-Rise Fire NOC and Industrial Electrical Load sanctions, are said to be in place.

The final BMC change-of-user certificate is expected by March 2026, with operations likely to begin in June 2026.
