Turning 53 this October, Raveena Tandon remains one of Bollywood’s most dynamic icons. From ruling the silver screen in the ’90s to becoming a strong voice in contemporary cinema and social causes, her journey has been nothing short of remarkable.

Yet, despite her evolution, there’s one shadow from the past that the public refuses to let fade - her once-famous engagement with Akshay Kumar.
“We Broke Up 25–30 Years Ago..."
In a 2023 interview with ANI, the Mohra actress spoke candidly about how her name continues to be tied to Akshay’s, even after decades. When told that Google still links their names, she laughed in disbelief: “We broke up 25-30 years ago, and it still pops up.”
She further reflected, “Once I had moved out of his life, I was already dating someone else, and he had moved on and was dating someone else. So where will jealousy even come from? I don’t understand why people can’t move on when we already have. One broken engagement is still stuck to my head - I don’t know why.”
“What's The Big Deal?”
Raveena didn’t mince words while calling out society’s selective memory. She said, “Girls have been changing boyfriends every week in college since then and even now. But one broken engagement from the 90s is still attached to my name.”
She continued, “Everyone moves on. People get divorced, people start new lives. So what’s the big deal?”
Beyond The Gossip
The actress revealed how she learned to protect her peace in an industry obsessed with headlines.
“I would never read anything that was written about that. Why unnecessarily increase your blood pressure? Gossip magazines of the 90s were the worst,” she said.
She also didn’t shy away from calling out hypocrisy and added, “Some of the same women who used to body-shame or slut-shame actresses back then now roam around carrying the ‘feminist’ badge. Instead of supporting women, they would tear them down. It was a cruel time.”
“Social Media Changed Everything..."
Reflecting on the digital age, Raveena acknowledged that things have changed for the better.
The KGF actress said, “Back then, what the newspapers or magazines wrote was the last word. You didn’t have a voice. Today, at least you can post your truth instantly, show proof, and clarify things. That’s very important.”

Grace, Growth and Moving Forward
Decades later, Raveena Tandon continues to shine with the same poise that once defined her stardom. Mature, unbothered, and refreshingly candid - she’s proof that strength comes not from denying the past, but from owning it gracefully.
Raveena said, “We were a hit pair during Mohra, and even now, when we bump into each other, we meet, we chat. Everyone has moved on.”
