After scripting box-office history with her recent blockbuster Thamma opposite Ayushmann Khurrana, National Crush Rashmika Mandanna is ready to charm audiences again. The actor now headlines The Girlfriend, a youthful romantic drama directed by actor-filmmaker Rahul Ravindran. The film also features Kannada actor Dheekshith Shetty in a lead role and is slated for a grand theatrical release on November 14 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

A Rare Gesture: Working Without an Upfront Fee

In an interesting turn, one of the producers, Dheeraj Mogilineni, revealed in a recent promotional interaction that Rashmika was so captivated by the story that she chose to forgo her remuneration while signing the film. He shared, “Rashmika was so impressed with the film’s story that she came on board without taking any payment.”

The producer added that the team plans to offer Rashmika double her usual remuneration after the release, as a token of appreciation for her belief in the project’s content.

Considering that Rashmika reportedly commands over Rs 10 crore per film, this move highlights both her confidence in the film and the producers’ faith in her star power.
