Sandeep Reddy Vanga declined cameo in Rashmika Mandanna’s 'The Girlfriend?

Riding high on the roaring success of Thamma, which has triumphantly stormed into the Rs 100 crore club, Rashmika Mandanna isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The Pushpa sensation is now setting her sights on her next big outing - The Girlfriend, a romantic drama helmed by Rahul Ravindran that delves deep into the tangled web of love, obsession, and emotional complexity.

Vanga's Cameo in 'The Girlfriend' Not Happening?

According to reports, Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga was approached to make a cameo appearance in the film but he declined the offer.

As per 123Telugu, Vanga, who previously worked with Rashmika in the 2023 blockbuster Animal, was offered a special role in The Girlfriend. However, the Arjun Reddy filmmaker felt that “the role was more than a cameo.”

Reportedly, after Vanga’s refusal, Vennela Kishore was considered for the part, but he too opted out. Eventually, Rahul Ravindran himself took on the role, deciding to appear in his own film.

What to Expect from 'The Girlfriend' 

The Girlfriend revolves around Bhooma (Rashmika Mandanna) and Vikram (Dheekshith Shetty), who fall in love during their college years. However, their relationship takes a dark and emotional turn as Bhooma finds herself trapped in a toxic and possessive dynamic. The trailer teases intense emotional drama and psychological tension, with Dheekshith Shetty portraying a volatile, obsessive lover. The film also stars Anu Emmanuel as Durga, adding further depth to the story.

The movie is all set to release worldwide on November 7 in multiple languages.

Rashmika Opens Up About Overworking

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s decision comes at a time when Rashmika herself has been reflecting on her hectic work schedule and the need for balance in her life. In a candid conversation with Gulte, the actress said, “I do overwork myself, but I don’t suggest it.” She further added that such a pace is “not sustainable to do.”
