Indian pop singer Badshah recently found himself at the center of controversy following the release of his Haryanvi song “Tateeree.” The track drew sharp criticism from several groups who alleged that its lyrics and visuals were offensive. The backlash quickly escalated, prompting authorities to take notice.
Reports indicate that the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) initially summoned the rapper over the matter. Later, discussions reportedly began regarding the issuance of a Look Out Circular (LOC) to ensure he does not leave the country while the matter is under review.

Responding to the controversy, the singer clarified his stance and addressed the concerns raised by the public.
Song Pulled Down From All Platforms
Taking to his Instagram account, Badshah released a statement confirming that the song has been taken down from the internet. He also shared a video explaining his side of the story and acknowledging the criticism surrounding the lyrics.
The rapper maintained that he never intended to offend anyone and expressed regret if the song hurt sentiments. He further emphasised that he comes from Haryana himself and takes pride in his roots.
“I had no intention to demean any group of society.”
“I am a proud Haryanvi.”
By removing the song from social media platforms, Badshah attempted to calm the situation and show respect toward the concerns raised by critics.
FIR Filed Over Alleged Objectionable Content
The music video for “Tateeree” was released on YouTube around March 1, 2026, but it soon began attracting scrutiny online. On March 6, the Haryana Police registered an FIR at the cybercrime police station in Panchkula.
The case has been filed under Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, along with Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with obscene acts and songs.
According to the complaint, the video depicts girls in school uniforms inside a classroom environment referred to as a “pathshala.”
The complainant argued that such imagery, combined with allegedly vulgar lyrics, sends the wrong message and could negatively influence young viewers.
Investigation Expands To Video Details
The FIR also mentions that a Haryana Roadways bus from the Jind depot appears in the video. Authorities are now investigating whether proper permission was obtained to use the bus for commercial filming. If the required approvals were not secured, legal action could be taken against those involved.
Meanwhile, Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda stated that the government is reviewing the matter and examining the concerns raised about the song.
Social Media Uproar Over the Song
Soon after the track surfaced online, clips from the video began circulating widely on social media. Many users criticised the lyrics and visuals, calling them inappropriate and disrespectful toward women.
