Ranveer Singh's 83 will release on Christmas this year. It is big news for both Bollywood and cricket fans because the movie is a biopic of Indian cricketer Kapil Dev. Actually, the movie was all set for release in the second quarter of this year. Promotions had started and teasers were released. But due to lockdown, the makers had to hold on its release.

Apart from Ranveer Singh's 83, another much-awaited movie is Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi. Incidentally, after doing back to back comedy movies like Housefull 4, Good Newwz and Laxmmi Bomb fans will get to see Akki in his typical action-avatar in Sooryavanshi. Directed by Singham-famed Rohit Shetty, the makers are planning its release somewhere during the first quarter of next year.

According to rumors, the movie will get a Republic Day 2021 weekend release.

Why are Makers Not Releasing Ranveer Singh's 83 and Akshay's Sooryavanshi in Diwali?

When the news about opening theaters came out, fans expected these long-awaited movies to get Diwali release.

However, Shisbashish Sarkar, the CEO of Reliance Entertainment Group had an entirely different opinion. At the start of this month when the news about the opening of theaters from 15th October came out Sarkar ruled out the possibility of Diwali release for Ranveer Singh's 83 and Akki's Sooryavanshi.

Sarkar said, "This is a great announcement but we still have to wait for all the states to open up. Many states like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are yet to open up. `Sooryavanshi` and `83` have been ready for quite some time. `Sooryavanshi` was originally slated for a Diwali release, but it`s not practical. Even if theatres open up in November, you can`t release such a big film with 15 days promotion time."

None of the producers want their big movie to clash with another biggie. That is why Akshay Kumar's film will release a couple of months later. Now that the makers have set release schedule for Ranveer Singh's 83 and Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi, soon fans will get to see these superstars promoting these movies.
