Ranbir Kapoor has finally put all speculation to rest by confirming that Animal is not just a standalone film but part of a full-fledged trilogy.
The actor revealed that the franchise was always envisioned as a three-part story by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, with Animal Park serving as the second instalment.
While fans have been eagerly waiting for updates, Ranbir made it clear that the next chapter will take time, as the film is expected to go on floors only in 2027.

Ranbir on the 2027 Shooting Timeline
In an interview with Deadline Hollywood, Ranbir addressed the much-discussed delay around Animal Park. He explained that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently busy with Spirit, his upcoming project starring Prabhas.
“We should start that film in 2027. It’s a bit away,” Ranbir said, confirming that production will begin once Vanga wraps up his current commitments. The actor added that the wait is part of a larger creative process rather than a setback.
A Trilogy Planned from the Start
Ranbir revealed that Animal was always designed as a long-form narrative spread across three films. According to him, Vanga wants to explore the characters and their psychological layers in much greater depth over multiple instalments.
The second part, titled Animal Park, will push the story further, while Animal 3 will complete the arc. Ranbir shared that discussions around the trilogy began soon after the first film’s release, with the script for Animal Park still in development.
Dual Role Twist in Animal Park
One of the biggest revelations about Animal Park is Ranbir’s dual role. The actor confirmed that he will portray both the protagonist and the antagonist. This narrative twist follows events from the first film, where the antagonist undergoes plastic surgery to resemble Ranbir’s character, setting up an intense psychological and emotional conflict in the sequel.
The Legacy of Animal
Released in 2023, Animal became a massive box-office success and one of the most talked-about films of the year. The hyper-violent drama explored a fractured father-son relationship, with Ranbir starring opposite Anil Kapoor. Despite polarising opinions, the film’s impact was undeniable, cementing the foundation for a trilogy that promises to grow darker and more complex with each instalment.
