Ever since Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra unveiled their ambitious vision of Ramayana, the project has snowballed into one of Indian cinema’s most discussed spectacles. Mounted on a grand scale and headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sunny Deol, Sai Pallavi, and Ravi Dubey, the film promises to reimagine the timeless epic for modern audiences.
But beyond the principal cast, it’s the swirling rumours around the supporting roles that continue to dominate conversations.

Vijay Sethupathi’s Name Enters the Storm
When it comes to versatility, few actors command as much respect as Vijay Sethupathi. The pan-India performer has built a reputation for slipping effortlessly into layered characters, making him a natural fit for big-ticket spectacles.
Earlier, speculation gained traction that Sethupathi might portray Vibhishan, Ravana’s righteous younger brother - a pivotal character in the Indian epic’s emotional and moral arc. The casting buzz excited fans, who imagined the actor bringing gravitas and nuance to the role.
However, for months Sethupathi maintained silence.
The Actor Finally Responds
Breaking his quiet streak, the Jawan actor addressed the rumours in an interaction with Bollywood Hungama and dismissed them outright.
He said, "No, I am not a part of this project. No clue where this is coming from."
With that brief but firm clarification, the speculation around his involvement came to an abrupt halt, leaving fans once again guessing who will ultimately step into Vibhishana’s shoes.
Vikrant Massey Faced Similar Rumours
Before Sethupathi, Vikrant Massey found himself caught in a similar whirlwind of reports. Claims about his participation - and even being replaced by Raghav Juyal as Meghanada - sparked confusion across social media.
The actor wasted no time responding. Calling out the reports, he labelled them “irresponsible” and shared a strong clarification on Instagram Stories.
In a now-deleted post, he wrote, “OK. To put things to rest, I was never a part of this movie. Am not, never was. Such irresponsible media coverage from "respectable" media houses is kinda appalling.” (sic)
He further added, "Nonetheless, wishing everyone on Ramayana all the very best. Will surely buy a ticket and watch it in cinemas.” (sic)

Interestingly, the post disappeared minutes later, adding another layer of mystery to the already buzzing narrative.

Casting Curiosity Continues
While the film’s scale and star power remain unquestioned, the supporting cast still fuels endless debate. With both Sethupathi and Massey denying involvement, anticipation only grows stronger.
For now, the audience await official announcements, hoping to learn who will ultimately embody the iconic characters of this legendary tale on the big screen.
