New Delhi: Director Prakash Jha says he feels "vindicated" after the Supreme Court gave a go ahead to the screening of Amitabh Bachchan starrer `Aarakshan` in Uttar Pradesh today, quashing the ban imposed by the state government.
"I feel vindicated. The order says state governments have no right whatsoever to ban a film. It is a vibrant democracy. I feel victorious," Jha told media.
The 59-year-old director said that he is glad to have challenged the state government`s decision to ban the film from screening.
"The Supreme Court decision should restore our faith in the system. The people of UP will finally be able to watch Aarakshan. I`m glad I decided to challenge the UP government`s decision to ban the film. This has been an important battle in making right to the freedom of expression a real right for the common citizens of India," Jha added.
