Rumours about Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza taking a divorce have been making rounds for the last few weeks. While neither of the two has confirmed these rumours, on Sania’s birthday, Shoaib Malik shared a cute photograph of the two and wished his international tennis-playing wife a happy birthday.

Apart from Sania and Shoaib, many sportspersons and celebrities have dated and married Pakistanis over the years. While some relationships continue to thrive, a few did end in legal separation.

Since Sania is the queen of tennis in India her marriage to a Pakistani player and then the captain of Pakistan’s cricket team attracted a lot of attention. However, another Pakistani cricketer who fell for an Indian beauty was all-rounder Hasan Ali who married an Indian girl from Faridabad, Samiya Arzoo. The two met for the first time in Dubai, became friends, dated each other, and later on married in 2019.

Incidentally, Samiya serves in Emirates Airlines as a flight engineer and the couple also has a daughter Helena Hasan Ali.

Rita Luthra, Zaheer Abbas

It is a known fact that the name of the World cup winning captain of Pakistan and the former Prime Minister Imran Khan was linked with many Indian beauties including Zeenat Aman during his heydays. But none of these affairs lasted long. However, his senior and captain Zaheer Abbas married an Indian beauty, Rita Luthra, in 1988. Rita is the second wife of Zaheer and after marriage, Rita’s name was changed to Samina Abbas.

Mohsin Khan and Reena Roy

Reena was at the top of her career during the late 70s and early 80s when she fell in love with Pakistan’s opening batsman Mohsin Khan. The two married in Karachi in 1983 and decided to shift to Mumbai. Mohsin tried his hand at acting and even acted in a few Hindi movies including Saathi which did well at the box office. However, their relationship could not last long and the two separated legally in 1990. It was a very bitter fallout as the two fought for the custody of their only child Sanam Khan.

Tavleen Singh and Salman Taseer

Tavleen Singh is a famous journalist and author from India. While working in London during the 70s, she met Salman Taseer, a Pakistani politician who was already a married man with kids. However, the rich aristocrat succeeded in wooing Tavleen and the two married soon after. Unfortunately, the marriage could not last long and separated after a few months. Tavleen has a son from Salman, Aatish Taseer who is a writer.

Nonita Lall and Faisal Qureshi

Golfers Faisal Qureshi from Pakistan and Nonita Lall from India met in Islamabad during a gold tournament and fell in love. After dating for a month, the two tied the knot and now have a son together.
