Lokesh Kanagaraj to romance Wamiqa Gabbi in debut flick ‘DC’! Watch intriguing teaser

Ending weeks of buzz and speculation, it’s finally official. Ace filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is stepping in front of the camera for the first time. The makers of director Arun Matheswaran’s much-awaited film have unveiled the title ‘DC’, confirming that Lokesh will make his acting debut opposite the versatile Wamiqa Gabbi.

On Saturday, production giant Sun Pictures took social media by storm with the announcement video. Sharing the teaser, the studio wrote, “Sun Pictures proudly presents #DC starring @Dir_Lokesh & #WamiqaGabbi. Directed by @ArunMatheswaran. The gripping teaser hints that DC might dive deep into the gritty world of gangsters - a genre both Arun and Lokesh have previously explored as filmmakers.

The footage reveals Lokesh as Devdas, and Wamiqa as Chandra, offering a dark, intense glimpse into their intertwined destinies.

A Glimpse Into the Characters

The teaser opens with Devdas emerging from a dimly lit room, his face bruised and streaked with blood, a dagger clenched tightly in his hand. The sequence cuts to Chandra, who moves purposefully across another room, pausing only to pick up a cond*m packet before stepping out. The parallel movements of the two characters set the tone for a story steeped in passion, danger, and vengeance.

While details of the plot remain under wraps, the visual cues and tone strongly suggest that DC will be a stylish gangster drama with Arun Matheswaran’s signature raw storytelling flair.

The Dream Team Behind the Scenes

DC is backed by a powerhouse crew. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, promising an electrifying soundtrack. Mukesh G handles cinematography, while G K Prasanna takes charge of editing and Kannan S oversees the art direction. The dialogues are co-written by Arun Matheswaran and Franklin Jacob, with Arun Ranjan contributing to the additional screenplay.

Production Progress and Release Plans

According to reports, the shoot is advancing at a fast pace, with the makers planning to wrap up production by January next year. DC is expected to hit theatres next year, marking a milestone in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s career - his evolution from celebrated director to on-screen performer.

Lokesh’s Preparation and Transformation

Before stepping into DC, Lokesh reportedly underwent intensive martial arts training in Thailand, showcasing his commitment to embodying the character of Devdas. The actor-director took up the training shortly after completing work on Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’, which released globally on August 14 this year.
