"This is a different kind of feeling. The happiness is difficult to describe in words. I am still to come to terms with the fact that I have made history. It is a beautiful moment. Participation in KBC has been a life changing experience," he told PTI.
"I plan to utilise my prize money to attend to my basic requirements and save rest of the amount. I want to become an IAS officer," says Sushil, who hails from Motihari, about 150 km from Patna. He considers himself as a very ordinary person who has "always worn chappals".
"I wore shoes for the second time in my life when I went to shoot for the episode. Somebody pointed out that the shoelace was not tied properly." Sushil got a call on October 17 to participate in the show and the episode featuring him was shot on October 24. He declines to reveal the last question that won him Rs five crore and fame.
"I have been told not to speak about it till the episode is telecast on November 2. I had two lifelines left when I attempted the jackpot question, which was linked to my civil services studies," Sushil said. "I consider myself a student and am busy preparing for my IAS exams which may be held early next year," he says.
He has been watching KBC for the past 11 years and says he used to get the right answers most of the time. According to Sushil, the feeling of becoming famous overnight is now slowly sinking in.
"For the past two days, I have been getting congratulatory calls and people have come to shake hands with me whenever I step out of my room here. Earlier, I always wished to see my name in newspapers. I even have a paper cutting of a news item where my name figures in the list of those who had gone to congratulate ," he says.
About his interaction with host Amitabh Bachchan, he says, "He is a very warm and affectionate person who goes out of the way to make the participants feel comfortable since they are always in awe of his personality." Sushil`s wife and brothers accompanied him to Mumbai.
