Karan Johar is a man who has left an impact in almost every sphere of film and entertainment industry. From being a producer, director to a host and a reality show judge, he has proven his dynamism time and again. But one thing about which he has never spoken freely about is his sexual inclination. Although there has been hints and indications that suggest that he is gay, Johar has not said it ever and that is more because, in India, homosexuality is a taboo.

Now with the decriminalization of section 377, he has finally broken the silence and has said that it is the victory of love over hatred.

For Karan Johar, It Is An Historical Moment

The Day 1 of recently held India Today Conclave Mumbai, 2019 was dedicated to Karan Johar. In the session titled Cinema Czar: The Final Word- The Dream Maker: Karan Johar on Ruling Bollywood, the renowned filmmaker opened about the decriminalization of section 377.

He said, “You know, I woke up and cried that day for myself and the community because there was finally freedom. It was a historical judgment. And it was just a moment to celebrate one true love. I’m so glad that it is finally accepted legally, that you can love whom you love.”

There is also a coincidence that the judgment that is so special for Karan was passed on September 6, 2018, which is the birthday of his father Yash Johar. Since the director was very close to his father it was more special. The celebrated reality show host and the judge are already on cloud nine and believes that love will actually win in the coming days and the taboo against the word homosexuality will slowly wane.

Importantly, Karan is ready to make a two-hero movie with openly gay characters. If Karan is ready to make such a movie maybe soon he will also think of getting married to one of his gay partners? Over the years many names including that of fashion designer Manish Malhotra and more have been linked with Karan.
Hopefully, in the future, the “Bombay Velvet” actor will reveal his gay partner and may even think of getting married to him.
