Alia Bhatt's career is unstoppable despite some worst flops in recent times. Her first OTT release Sadak 2 was a big disaster. Sushant Singh Rajput fans banning the movie did play a crucial role in its failure. However, even the movie critics slammed the movie for being rusty and illogical. Alia's last theatrical release Kalank also tanked at the box-office. Bankrolled by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions Kalank was a multi-star cast movie. It included big names like Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, and more.

Despite delivering such big flops, Alia Bhatt is still one of the top choices of the current producers and directors.

Alia Bhatt Has A Strong Backing From Karan Johar

Undoubtedly, Alia is a very good actress. Highway and Raazi showed how she can rise to the occasion whenever a director offers her a good script. Nevertheless, it is also a fact that the  Highway-director Imitiaz Ali never intended to cast Alia. However, the insistence of Karan Johar made the Jab We Met director give the lead role to Alia. Karan Johar admitted to this a few years ago.

The boss of Dharma Productions said, "I am glad that Imtiaz took Alia for 'Highway', which is considered one of the best performances of her. But I had to vouch for her to Imtiaz. When I had told him about Alia and requested him to take her in his film, he was not at all sure about her acting prowess after 'Student of the Year'. But I had assured him that she has the capacity to be the lead for his film."

Even Alia getting a role in SS Rajamouli's RRR is not a coincidence. The actress herself revealed earlier that she begged the famous director for a role in his movie. Alia Bhatt said, “I had bumped into Rajamouli sir at an airport and I begged him that whatever part he has (for me), I will do it. That time, he had not cast for the girl yet.”

Karan Johar was one of the distributors of both the movies from the Baahubali franchise. Reportedly he even made a phone call to Rajamouli and requested him to take Alia in his next movie. That was one reason, the director could not refuse Alia a role in his upcoming flick.

Karan Johar Offers His Next Big Project To Alia Bhatt

According to a few rumors, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director wanted his progeny to work with a big name like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Reportedly he showed some footage of Kalank to SLB. That is how she got the lead role in Gangubai Kathiawadi. According to the latest reports, Dharma Productions is planning yet another new project with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead.

Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment is also planning a romantic comedy with Alia Bhatt. And everyone is aware of the deep connection between the Badshah Khan and Karan. So despite giving two flops back to back Alia Bhatt's career is going great guns. Not surprisingly, its credit goes to Karan Johar.
