(image) Los Angeles: Hollywood star Anne Hathaway has landed the role of Catwoman in the next Batman movie `The Dark Knight Rises`, pipping actresses Keira Knightley, Rachel Weisz and Natalie Portman who were also vying for the role.
The 28-year-old actress will play Selina Kyle, whose other identity is Catwoman, joining Christian Bale, who is reprising his turn as Batman, reported People magazine.
Another new addition in the cast is `Inception` star Tom Hardy, who will play the villain Bane.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story," director Christopher Nolan said in a press release.
