Right from her first Bollywood movie `Tujhe Meri Kasam` to `Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na`, Genelia has so far mostly played roles of a young energetic girls.
"It was a conscious effort to throw out my hair...the image that I had from `Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na`...immature...
baby girl-like. For this film, I have grown into a lady...a mature woman with my character Maya," Genelia said.
The actress will be seen as the love interest of a cop, played by John Abraham in `Force`, directed by Nishikanth Kamat, a National Award winning film director.
"I think while the young, cute, energetic girl has been something most people associate me with, `Force` has given me a character who is a mature extension of that bubbly girl,? she said.
The film is a remake of a superhit Tamil film, `Kaakha Kaakha` (2003). In the original version, south actress Jyothika Saravanam was a school teacher, while in the Hindi film, Genelia has turned into a social activist.
As `Force` has been touted as an action film, where does her character fit in? Genelia says, "I play Maya and my character plays a very crucial part to the progression of the film. She is his confidante, his support and besides that, she is fearless."
The film will release on Friday.
