According to reports, superstar Mohanlal and actress Meena will join the crew on September 25. But the official sources are yet to confirm the same.

Drishyam 2 Will Show A Leap Of Seven Years

The sequel starring Mohanlal and Meena will show a leap of seven years from the first movie. Jeethu Joseph who directed the first flick from the franchise will helm the sequel as well. Earlier while discussing details about the sequel with the students at the Additional Skill Acquisition, Joseph stated that Drishyam 2 is set 7 years later from the first film.

The director said, "It is about how the family responds to the life after the crisis. The police haven't closed the murder investigation. So the film will examine how the family deals with their own personal trauma and reactions from society." Incidentally, the director waited for the clearance from the Kerala Government to start the shooting. Additionally, he also stated that he is in no hurry to release Drishyam 2. Joseph said that he would rather wait for the cinema theaters to open across the country before releasing the movie.

The first installment from the Drishyam franchise in Malayalam hit the theaters in 2013. Mohanlal and Meena played the lead roles in this thriller. The duo is all set to reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel. Its Hindi remake starred Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran in the lead. Directed by Nishikant Kamat the Hindi version of Drishyam also became successful at the box-office.

If Drishyam 2 becomes a big hit, most probably the producers of the Hindi remake will show interest in making a Bollywood version of the sequel.
