Dhurandhar 2: R Madhavan reveals big secrets about the sequel and his crucial role in training Ranveer Singh’s character

While Dhurandhar introduced viewers to an Indian spy navigating terror networks in Pakistan, one major chapter is still unwritten- the transformation of Ranveer Singh’s Jaskirat into Hamza. The makers have already confirmed that Dhurandhar 2 will hit theatres on March 19, 2026, and ahead of the release, R Madhavan has begun teasing what awaits fans in the next installment.

Madhavan Praises the Visionary Behind the Film

During an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Maddy showered admiration on filmmaker Aditya Dhar.

He said, “Aditya Dhar is a monk. Through all the chaos of making a film so dense and intense, he would sit there for the anxieties to settle down. What a fine human being! After working with Aditya in Dhurandhar, I want to work with him again and again.”

His words underline the calm creative force steering the franchise’s growing cinematic universe.

A Larger Role in Dhurandhar 2

The Rocketry: The Nambi Effect star also opened up about what fans can expect from his character, Ajay Sanyal, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau.

Hinting at a more prominent arc, he revealed, “My screen presence is limited in the first part. But in the second part, which will release in March, there is a lot of my character as he trains Ranveer’s character in skills of espionage warfare.” 

This confirms that Dhurandhar 2 will delve much deeper into the mentor- protégé dynamic between Ajay Sanyal and Hamza.

A Defining Year for R Madhavan

Reflecting on his remarkable run this year, the actor shared, “I started the year with Hisaab Barabar. I am ending the year with Dhurandhar, which is one of the most important films of my career. I’ve had the privilege of working with the best directors in the most creative and productive phase of their career: Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, Rajkumar Hirani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Aanand L Rai, and now Aditya Dhar. I couldn’t have asked for more.”
