Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1 roared at the box office in 2024, and on its first anniversary, the makers thrilled fans by officially announcing the much-awaited Devara 2.

When Devara: Part 1 stormed theatres in 2024, it made waves across India. The opening day collections touched a staggering Rs 77 crore across all languages. Powered by a holiday release and strong pan-India buzz, the film crossed Rs 200 crore within a week. Globally, it smashed through the Rs 500 crore mark, reaffirming Jr NTR’s star power that extends far beyond Telugu cinema.

On the first anniversary of the film, the makers finally gave fans what they had been waiting for- an official announcement of Devara 2. Needless to say, celebrations erupted among movie lovers.

Sequel Officially Announced

Marking the milestone on social media, the team wrote, “It’s been one year since HAVOC struck the shores, trembling every coast and the name the world remembers is #DEVARA. Be it the FEAR it unleashed or the LOVE it earned, the streets will never forget. Now gear up for #Devara2 (sic).”

The World of Devara

The original action drama, directed by Koratala Siva, featured Jr NTR in dual roles- as father Devara and son Varadha. Released on September 27 last year, the film not only strengthened Siva’s reputation as one of Telugu cinema’s master storytellers but also marked the Telugu debuts of Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan.

The ensemble cast further boasted names like Prakash Raj, Shruti Marathe, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain, Kalaiyarasan, and Murali Sharma. Ending on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, Devara teased the continuation of its saga. While Jr NTR and Koratala Siva had hinted at a sequel earlier, the makers have now sealed it with confirmation.

Fans can’t wait to watch Tarak reprise his powerful dual avatars, promising more breathtaking action and emotional depth in Devara 2.

What’s Next for Jr NTR?

After War 2 with Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR is gearing up for his much-hyped project with director Prashanth Neel. Tentatively titled Dragon, NTRNeel is already creating massive buzz as one of the most ambitious Telugu projects. Reportedly mounted on an unlimited budget, the film is aiming to surpass Neel’s earlier pan-India blockbusters.

Dragon is slated for a June 25, 2026 release, with extensive portions shot abroad to bring an international scale. The movie will also feature Rukmini Vasanth and Tovino Thomas in key roles. However, recent reports hint that the title Dragon might be replaced with a new name.
