James Gunn Teases Fans With a Major Update

In a recent conversation, Gunn revealed intriguing details about the sequel’s potential.

During a podcast with BobaTalks, he said, "I’ve discussed it on and off. I've discussed it with Keanu. I think that’s a great group of guys. I like all those people a lot, I think they’re talented. But I have not read any script yet."

His comments confirm that talks about a continuation are indeed happening and Reeves’ involvement remains central to the project’s future.

Keanu Reeves Has Been Pushing for Constantine 2

Earlier this year, Reeves openly expressed his enthusiasm to return as the fan-favorite exorcist. He revealed that he had "pitched" a treatment for the sequel.

Speaking to Inverse, the actor explained, "We’ve [along with director Francis Lawrence] been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, ‘OK.’ So, we’re going to try and write a script."

This statement reignited excitement among fans who have long campaigned for Constantine’s comeback.

Slow but Steady Progress in Development

The sequel has been in various stages of development for years. According to insiders, an early draft of the screenplay was completed in 2024, with story refinements continuing through 2025. Reeves and director Francis Lawrence have reportedly collaborated closely on the new draft, which is said to capture the dark mysticism and philosophical undertones that made the original memorable.

Now, with James Gunn’s involvement, DC Studios may be preparing to polish the script and shape Constantine 2 into a major supernatural event film.

Legacy of Constantine

Based on DC Comics’ Hellblazer series, Constantine follows a world-weary exorcist who can perceive half-angels and half-demons in their true forms and traverse the realms of Earth and Hell.
