The movie `The Star and the Sea`, directed together by Kuan and his wife Xiao Guiyun, was screened at the ongoing International Children`s Film Festival, India (ICFF) here on Tuesday.
"The quality and quantity of Indian films are good and I would like to visit different studios in India with a delegation, for a better understanding of the film-making in the country," an official release quoted Kuan as saying on the sidelines of the ICFF today. "Many children`s films are not produced in China as they may not be viable," he said, adding that "the government is now adopting liberal policies for film promotion."
Promising an exciting mix of quality international cinema, the ICFF got off to a colourful start here on Tuesday.
About 150 films from about 40 countries have been lined up for screening during the festival that would conclude on November 20. The festival is organised jointly by the Children`s Film Society of India (CFSI) and the Andhra Pradesh government.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has promised to construct a permanent centre for hosting the biennial ICFF. Hyderabad is the permanent venue for the event.
