Rohan Pathak who?
His is a familiar face in government-organised programmes apart from private soirees, which has made him a sort of `mini celebrity` in Ranchi and for that matter the whole Jharkhand. Now he is counting days for singing before his childhood idol and Hindi playback artiste Abhijeet. "I qualified to sing before my childhood idol through a competition held in Ranchi recently. The programme is scheduled for December in Ranchi," Rohan, a graduate from St Xavier`s College, said.
His room is full of trophies and certificates won in school and college competitions and government-sponsored programmes as well as photographs of several celebrities, one of them being Hema Malini patting him for good performance.
But the `best moment of his life` came when Rohan got an opportunity to sing before A P J Abdul Kalam when he came to Ranchi a few years ago when he was still in school. "I was in class IX when my life took a new turn during an after-school singing class and my song impressed teachers and my friends alike. Their appreciation led me to decide to give it a try as career option," Rohan said. He also did not take up a lucrative MNC job in order to pursue his passion.
Rohan said though he was specialising in classical music, modern songs are in demand now and he was focusing on them too. Asked if he would carry on with his singing career if he did not get any big break, Rohan quoted champion wrestler Kyle Maynard, "Know your limits, but never stop trying to break them".
Some of the certificates he preserved to motivate in his career path are from reputed institutes like Renaissance Artist And Writers Association, Spring Fest organised by Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Jharkhand Art and Cultural department, National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology, Red Cross and Lioness Club of Ranchi.
