The Korean boy band BTS has yet again made history by becoming the first K-pop group to earn a Grammy nomination.

The world’s biggest music award show revealed their nominations list this year and BTS found a spot as the contender for the best pop duo/group performance. Earlier at Grammy 2019, they had been the first K-pop group to present an award at the event.

Reacting to the announcement, the group shared a video where  V, Jungkook, RM and Jimin were sitting and watching Grammy nominations live on TV, and start jumping in joy when they hear their name in the list. They posted this video with the caption, “Ohmmmmmmyyyyyyyyggghghhhhhhhgggggggggdhdhsjsixudbslsogbdsisgshdbxidjdbdidhdifjfiri #GRAMMYs #BTS.”

Then through the official handle, the band expressed their gratitude towards the ARMYs who made it possible in their official announcement tweet which read “Thank you to everyone who listened to and sympathized with our music during the difficult times. Above all, it is ARMYs who made the miracle of being a Grammy candidate. I always appreciate and love you. Thank you @RecordingAcad for this great honor!”

While the Recording Academy nominations were full of surprises and missed notable songs and artists this year. Many critics and fans think that with just one nomination, the Korean band was not given enough recognition despite their global popularity. One cannot miss that BTS’s Dynamite which is one of the hottest songs of the years also didn’t make it to the song or record nominations. But there is no denying that by getting themselves a nomination in the performance category,  BTS has surely taken a step closer towards their dream of world domination.
