"These tribals are the representatives of those inhabiting the forested land for ages. They acted their parts in my movie which speaks about the two Indias one India talking about GDP growth - and the other one as 'Bharat' inhabited by people who are still scared of 'sui' (injection syringe)" the ace film maker said as he introduced Dukhumoni Tudu, Gurucharan Tudu and four others to a round of applause.
"And I was amazed that they could turn so spontaneous and natural before the camera despite not having any prior experience. Even they emerged as champs during the dubbing session with lines which many actors would fumble," Ghosh said.
Ghosh, who dwelt on the lines of Ernest Hemingway 'a man can be destroyed but not defeated' as the catchphrase of his film or the reference point, said, "The fight for land and livelihood of these poor people more than exemplify these words."
"I started my scripting with these lines but then I gradually expanded that with the tale of two worlds, one essentially urban and the other lying in the backyard, beyond our immediate consciousness" he said.
"We talk on over 8 per cent GDP growth or 4 per cent GDP growth referring to phases of economy looking up or down, but does that all matter to the inhabitants of the interior belts! Where is this inclusive growth!", the Paar director wondered.
Actor Paoli Dam, who had turned up in strong female characters in Ghosh's previous flicks 'Moner Manush' and 'Kalbela', said after the show, "He is one director making introspective films which make you think and ponder where you are and what you are once you leave the theatre."
The film, produced by Rosevalley, starred Soumitra Chatterjee, Konkona Sen Sharma, Priyanshu Chatterjee, debutant Priyanka Bose and Lolita Chatterjee in a come-back role.
