Babil Khan returns to Instagram after months, opens up about mental health

Actor Babil Khan, son of the late Irrfan Khan, returned to Instagram after a five-month hiatus, posting a series of photos and a cryptic poem addressing his struggles with depression, panic, and insomnia.

The actor had gone offline following a viral video in May where he broke down, discussing the challenges of Bollywood and calling out “fake” people in the industry. 

In the post, Babil is seen in a red sweater holding a flower between his teeth, with captions reflecting his emotional vulnerability.

The Poetic Confession

In the caption, Babil wrote: “I wore my heart on my sleeves, now I have blood-soaked t-shirts… insomnia and panic had me making wired confessions… I was crying out for help… my soul was tired of repression.” The heartfelt poem reflects his struggle with emotional turmoil and the need to heal while emphasizing the toll these battles took on his mental and physical health.

Support from Industry and Fans

Babil’s comeback was warmly received. Actors Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Aparshakti Khurana expressed support, while fans flooded the post with messages of encouragement.

Comments included “Babil we got your back” and “The caption says it all! More power to you!!” His return was also noticed at the Mumbai airport, where fans remarked on his grounded and composed demeanor compared to his earlier emotional posts.

Background: Viral Breakdown Video

In May, Babil shared a video criticising Bollywood, naming actors including Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Raghav Juyal. He later clarified the video was misinterpreted and intended as support for the actors mentioned. 

Following the controversy, he briefly deactivated Instagram and parted ways with director Sai Rajesh due to “unforeseen circumstances,” taking time off to focus on his mental health.
