Long before becoming a Bollywood mainstay, Anil Kapoor began his acting journey in South Indian cinema. He made his debut in a leading role with the Telugu film Vamsa Vruksham in 1980, directed by Bapu. The film introduced him as a sensitive and expressive performer, laying a strong foundation for a career that would later flourish across industries.

Kannada Cinema and a Defining Milestone

Kapoor’s next major breakthrough came with his Kannada debut Pallavi Anu Pallavi (1983), directed by Mani Ratnam. The romantic drama showcased his effortless screen presence and musical flair, earning him early recognition.

The Animal actor revisited this phase by sharing a clip from the film featuring him performing on a song, highlighting the importance of the Kannada Film Industry (KFI) in his journey. 

He wrote, "43 years ago, I took my first step into the Kannada film industry. From then to now, it’s incredible to see how Kannada cinema is booming and redefining Indian cinema globally." (sic)

The actor also acknowledged the contemporary forces driving Kannada cinema’s international acclaim.
