Putting an end to speculation, Anees Bazmee personally confirmed the collaboration during an interview with Mid-Day. The filmmaker revealed that the project is already in its final writing stages and could move to production soon.
"It is a comedy. I am writing the script right now, it’s almost complete. If everything goes as planned, we will start shooting soon," said Anees.
Remake Rumours Surface, Director Keeps Details Under Wraps
Industry buzz suggests that the upcoming film might be a remake of the Telugu action-comedy Sankranthiki Vasthunam.
However, when questioned about this, Anees Bazmee chose not to comment on the rumours. Instead, he reflected on his long-standing professional bond with Akshay Kumar and the mutual respect they share.
"There is mutual love and respect between us. When I told him about this film, he was more than happy," he said.
Why Writing Comedy Has Become More Challenging Today?
Anees Bazmee also shared his thoughts on how the process of writing comedy has evolved over the years and now demands greater precision and planning.
"Earlier, things were more instinctive. Now you have to write with a lot of thought. You also have to keep in mind whether the actors can handle that kind of comedy. I like writing under pressure. That helps me write better. When I’m happy or angry, something good comes out. But if I’m sad or blank, it becomes difficult to write," Anees was quoted as saying.
The news has sparked enthusiasm among fans who fondly remember their successful collaborations in films like Welcome, Singh Is Kinng, and Thank You. Their last project together, Thank You, released in 2011, making this reunion all the more special.
