Exactly 13 years ago on 9 November, Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan Kunder launched a sensational beauty in Bollywood-Deepika Padukone. The actress who debuted in movies with a Kannada flick Aishwarya caught the attention of the famous choreographer turned director Farah Khan and rest is the history.

The Chhapaak actress turned her social media status to Shantipriya-the character she played in her debut Bollywood movie earlier today.

Successful Journey of Deepika Padukone in Bollywood

Deeps has come a long way from playing Shantipriya in Om Shanti Om to now playing a female lead in Prabhas's next movie helmed by Nag Ashwin. Today she is one of the highest-paid leading ladies of B-town. The actress has won 3 Filmfare awards and even was listed by Time in their 100 most influential people in the world list of 2018.

Her career in Bollywood kicked off after Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal with Saif Ali Khan became a hit. Over the years Deepika has earned accolades for various roles. But her portrayal of Veronica in Cocktail was the turning point after which both fans and critics started seeing her more as an actress than just a star.

She reunited with Shah Rukh Khan for Chennai Express and Happy New year. However, it was her back to back three big hits with Sanjay Leela Bhansali that helped her become the topmost star of Bollywood.  SLB's Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat made her the biggest star of the industry.

Her headstrong character as an architect in Piku also was well appreciated. Deepika Padukone was also part of Vin Diesel's Hollywood flick XXX: Return of  Xander Cage.

JNU Visit, Drug Angle-Controversies Related to Deepika Padukone

Things started turning sour for Deeps when she turned producer with Chhapaak. Her visit to JNU to stand in support of students who were attacked by mobs was criticized a lot. While the entire Bollywood kept silent on the entire incident, Deepika went to JNU and stood by the students.

Incidentally at that time, she was in New Delhi to promote her movie Chhapaak based on an acid survivor. Social media slammed her visit as a PR stunt which also was one of the reasons why the movie did not do well at the box-office.

In recent times, her name has come up in connection with the drug angle during the investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput's death by NCB. While there have been no arrests, her credibility in the eyes of Bollywood fans has certainly taken a dent.

Despite all this hatred and abuse, her career seems to be going great guns. She has been roped in Nag Ashwin's next movie with Prabhas which will also star Amitabh Bachchan.

Importantly, reports suggest that Deeps is being paid much more than the  Telugu superstar to play the female lead in this movie.
