The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a public notice regarding the model cadre recruitment rules for non-teaching posts of central universities.

It is pertinent to mention here that the rules for non-teaching posts were notified on September 27, 2022. The UGC has clarified that since the posts of library cadre from the assistant librarian and above are covered under the University Grants Commission (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and other Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education) Regulations, 2018.

“Therefore, notwithstanding anything contained in the UGC Model Cadre Recruitment Rules for non-teaching posts, such posts of Library Cadre i.e. Asstt. Librarian and above shall be regulated in accordance with the norms prescribed under aforesaid regulations,” UGC notice read.

In another notice, UGC has requested Vice-Chancellors/representatives of universities from the States and UTs to attend the workshop on draft National Credit Framework (NCrF).

A Draft National Credit Framework (NCrF) has been jointly developed by a high-level committcc constituted by the Government of India. The National Credit Framework is a comprehensive framework that enables seamless integration of learning from the three axes of learning -academic learning, vocational learning, and experiential learning, right from school to higher education.
