From leaving Switzerland to clearing Civil Services: The inspiring journey of Ambika Raina

The journey of Ambika Raina is a story of determination, sacrifice, and commitment to public service. Born in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ambika grew up in a disciplined environment as the daughter of a Major General in the Indian Army. Frequent transfers during her childhood exposed her to different cultures and shaped her outlook on life, instilling in her a strong sense of duty toward the nation.

Switzerland Job To UPSC

Ambika pursued a degree in Architecture from CEPT University in Ahmedabad and later began building a promising international career. She worked in Zurich, Switzerland, where she received attractive job opportunities and a high-paying professional future. However, despite the comfort and stability of a global career, Ambika felt a deeper calling to serve the country through the civil services.

Determined to follow her dream, she returned to India and began preparing for the highly competitive UPSC Civil Services Examination. The journey was not easy. She faced setbacks and failed to clear the exam on her first two attempts. Instead of giving up, Ambika analysed her mistakes, improved her preparation strategy, and continued working toward her goal.

Her perseverance paid off in 2022 when she successfully cleared the examination with All India Rank 164. Following her success, she joined the prestigious Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS), where officers play a key role in ensuring transparency and accountability in government financial systems.

Today, Ambika Raina’s journey from a promising career abroad to a life of public service in India stands as an inspiration for thousands of young aspirants preparing for the civil services.
