Compassionate souls often walk unnoticed among us. While cities rush past stray dogs, hungry cows, and fluttering birds searching for scraps, a few hearts quietly ache for them. These individuals do not seek applause; they simply respond to silent suffering with small, consistent acts of kindness.
In Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar - widely known as a hub for UPSC aspirants - a routine video shoot recently captured such an act.

A Viral Video That Changed Perception
According to reports, local mobile shop owner Uplaksh noticed a young man gathering discarded food from the roadside. His first instinct was disbelief. But as the camera continued recording, confusion gave way to clarity.
The young man wasn’t scavenging for himself - he was collecting leftover food to feed stray animals. The clip soon went viral across social media platforms, drawing praise and admiration.
The Aspirant Behind the Act
The man has been identified in viral posts as Ashutosh, a UPSC aspirant from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. Alongside preparing for one of India’s toughest competitive exams, he reportedly spends his free time gathering surplus food from gatherings and eateries instead of letting it rot in garbage piles.
He distributes the collected food to stray dogs, cows, and birds in the locality - offering relief to animals that often survive on unsafe waste.
While preparing for UPSC, this young aspirant is also clearing another test - the test of humanity.

A Gesture That Highlights a Larger Issue
India faces a significant food waste challenge. According to the United Nations Environment Programme’s Food Waste Index Report 2021, millions of tonnes of food are wasted annually. At the same time, urban stray animals struggle daily for sustenance.
While the details of the viral clip remain based on social media accounts, the message it carries is undeniable: compassion requires no grand platform. As this UPSC aspirant prepares for civil services, he appears to be passing another test - the test of humanity.
