In a bid to make the Chandaka-Dampara sanctuary, located on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, free from poachers and timber mafia, a special joint exercise was launched by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and Forest department officials on Tuesday.
According to sources, as many as 450 CRPF personnel carried out the combing operation inside the sanctuary. The operation will continue for 12 days, starting today, as part of their jungle warfare training.
Sharing details about the joint exercise, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Susanta Nanda said, "CRPF IG has sent 450 personnel to Chandaka-Dampara sanctuary as part of the jungle warfare training, on our request. Forest department officials will also be a part of this exercise which will be carried out for 12 days."
"The combing operation will benefit both CRPF and Forest Department. As part of the exercise, the CRPF personnel will be able to practice various aspects of jungle warfare training while helping us make the sanctuary free from poachers and timber mafia," Nanda added.
Asked if such operations will be launched in other sanctuaries in the State, Nanda said, "We will write to the Central government to carry out such trainings at Satakosia and Similipal tiger reserves."
