Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of rumours regarding a fake notice on CBSE class 10, 12 board exams, various reports are now doing rounds that candidates in the board examinations will have to register their attendance by the biometric system.
The media reports claimed the board has come up with such decision to check incidents of malpractice by students in the upcoming board exams.
However, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the government of India recently carried out a ‘Fact Check’ report of these claims. The PIB deemed it to be fake news and said that no such decision was taken by the CBSE.
Earlier, a fake notice with misleading information regarding passing marks of the board exams had gone viral on social media.
The fake notice claimed that the passing marks of the board exams, which are usually 33 per cent for each subject, has been reduced to 23 per cent this year. Later, PIB fact check team issued a statement alerting students and parents that this information about the passing marks is fake.
Similarly, a fake date sheet of the board exams was doing rounds on social media. A date sheet for Class 12th and 10th Exams 2020-21, allegedly issued by the CBSE, is in circulation on social media, PIB fact check team had informed on Twitter.
It is pertinent to mention here that the CBSE Class 10, 12 board examinations will be held between May 4 and June 1 this year. The dates for the examinations were announced by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhiryal last month.
However, the datesheet of the exams is yet to be released by CBSE. The board had earlier urged students and parents not to believe in rumours and other information being shared on social media.
In a notice, the board had asked students to visit the official CBSE website for all the latest announcements and information.
