Amid the confusion over dates and pattern of upcoming CBSE Board Exams 2021, Controller of Exams Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj has held a meeting with the Principals of various CBSE affiliated schools to discuss several aspects of the exams like date sheet, syllabus, practical exams, marking scheme, exam pattern and more.

Dismissing the rumours, Bhardwaj clearly stated that practical examinations for Class 12 and Class 10 would be conducted post resumption of normal classes after the schools reopen.

Besides, a report of the Times Now mentioned that practical exams will be conducted in school laboratories as usual, and not in online labs. However, the dates for the same haven't been announced as yet.

In the meeting, the official reportedly discussed the dates and schedule for Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exams. As of now, there is not much clarity on the date, and it would be declared later only in consultation with the stakeholders. However, the exam schedule can be expected in due course of time and the Board would also be giving ‘sufficient time for preparation’ and gaps in between the exams, Times Now reported quoting the CBSE official.

Sharing insights into the marking scheme and exam pattern, Bhardwaj reportedly said that the Board will supply three sets of question papers with same difficulty level, but moderation will be considered in case any set is found to be of a higher difficulty level.

He further mentioned that the marking scheme would remain the same as 80+20, wherein 80 is for external or theory paper and 20 for the internals.

The CBSE Exam Controller has clarified that the Board has not planned a further reduction in the syllabus for the 2021 board exams. On the pattern of exams, he said that paper pattern and typology for the question papers would remain the same as the CBSE sample papers available on the official website - cbseacademic.nic.in.
