Youth dies during treatment after being shot at near Puri Gundicha Temple

Bhubaneswar: Youth who was critically injured after being shot at near Puri Gundicha Temple early in the morning on Tuesday succumbed to his injuries later in the night.

According to sources, the youth, Sanjay Behera alias Para, was critically injured after four miscreants chased and fired three rounds of bullets at him near Nakachana gate of Puri Gundicha Temple.

During the attack, Para sustained grievous wounds on his left shoulder and head. He was admitted to Puri district headquarters hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he died under treatment later in the night.

It may be noted that several criminal cases were pending against Para. Sources said he had served a sentence five months ago before being released from the jail.

He had some disputes with his former associates over running of shops and an illegal vehicle parking stand near the temple.

Meanwhile, sources said the four accused involved in the attack have already been identified and the Kumbharpada and Town police have launched manhunt to nab the culprits. The four accused were responsible for executing several anti-social incidents in the area like series bombing and murder.
