Minor girl’s body found stuffed in sack in Balasore, police begin probe

The body of a minor girl was recovered from a sack inside a house in Samalpur area under Industrial Police Station limits in Balasore district on Thursday.

According to initial information, the deceased hailed from Bahanaga area and had been residing in a rented house at Samalpur.

She reportedly survived by collecting and selling scrap and waste materials. Police sources said the girl had been staying with two other young girls in the same house for the past few months.

Her lifeless body was discovered stuffed inside a sack, triggering panic in the neighbourhood. Police reached the spot soon after and sent the body for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear. While the cause is yet to be established, a possible foul play in the death of the girl is suspected. 

Police have detained the two girls, who were living with the deceased, for questioning to gather more details about her final hours.

Local residents expressed concerns over the incident, demanding a transparent investigation.

Police have assured that all angles, including murder, will be thoroughly probed. Security has been tightened in the area as the investigation continues.
