Leopard Hide & Elephant Tusk Seizure In Odisha: 2 Including Poacher Held

Kalahandi: Carrying out probe into the recent seizure of leopard hide and elephant tusk, the Special Task Force (STF) of the CID-Crime Branch arrested two more persons of an interstate wildlife smuggling gang including the poacher Bhaskar Nayak.

Apart from Nayak, a middleman identified as Badhu Majhi has also been arrested in connection with the wildlife poaching and smuggling racket.

The accused were arrested on charges smuggling leopard skin and elephant tusk in Bhawanipatna of Kalahandi district.

It is pertinent to mention that a case was registered under Wildlife Protection Act and subsequently three persons were arrested for their alleged links in the smuggling racket on November 7.

Senior officials of STF are hopeful to elicit more information from poacher Bhaskar Nayak during interrogation.
