Jharsuguda:Police arrested four dacoits of an inter-state gang in Jharsuguda district today. The arrested persons have been identified as Anand Soreng, David Kandula, Binay Lulu and Rahul Sahu.

According to police sources, the arrested criminals are involved in several loot and robbery incidents in Sarbahal, Laikerar and Bagdihi areas of Jharsuguda district.

Sources said, police conducted simultaneous raids at Simdego, Biramitrapur and Rourkela and arrested the accused.

Two firearms, 4 rounds of live ammunition and 5 mobile phones have been seized from their possession, added sources

Reportedly, Anand Soreng was earlier arrested by police in connection with his alleged links with Maoists and many murder cases are also pending against him.

“The gang is operating under their leader identified as Babu Khan who originally hails from Ranchi in Jharkhand. He has formed the gang by organising local tribal youths of Rourkela and has been engaging them in committing robberies in western parts of Odisha including Sundergarh and Jharsuguda districts,” Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Jharsuguda Police Station, Sabitri Bal said.
