Youth Thrashed With Cricket Bat As Parking Dispute Turns Ugly In Odisha

Berhampur: A video of a youth being thrashed with a cricket bat over parking dispute at Panda colony under Baidyanathpur Police limits in Berhampur has gone viral on social media.

Though the incident occurred on January 28, the matter came to light after the CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media recently. As per reports, the injured youth identified as Raja Mishra picked up a quarrel with one Sunil Moharana who reportedly parked his motorcycle in front of a kalyan mandap.

Following the incident, Sunil along with his friends attacked Raja. As per reports, Raja’s mother also sustained injuries while she tried to resist the attack on his son. The entire incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed near the spot.

Carrying out a probe, police later arrested Sunil Moharana, Ashish Moharana, Pintu Behera, Kalia Sahu and injured Raja Mishra. Further investigation in connection with the incident is on.

Many believe that miscreants are having a field day in Ganjam as there has been rise in such incidents in the past couple of years. Earlier, a youth sustained multiple injuries after he was brutally attacked by miscreants with sharp weapons at Bomkai under Digapahandi area in Ganjam district in December last year.

The injured Niranjan Pradhan, who was working as a junior clerk at Sevananda Degree College, was attacked by three miscreants while he was on his way to the college. The incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed at the spot. In the video, miscreants brandishing sharp weapons were seen chasing Pradhan who sustained multiple injuries in the attack.
