Youth shot at by miscreants in Talcher, hospitalised

Angul: A youth was critically injured after being shot at by unidentified miscreants near Santhapada village in Talcher here Saturday night.

As per sources, the injured Balaram Sahu, identified as a resident of Parajanga area in Dhenkanal district, suffered bullet injuries on his chest and was rushed to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack.

The incident happened when Balaram was riding a bike with his two brothers. A few miscreants suddenly opened fired at him near Santhapada village and fled the spot, added sources.

While police have initiated an investigation into the incident, the miscreants are yet to be identified.

“Though there is no information about the reason behind the attack, it is being suspected that Balaram was attacked over business rivalry. An investigation is currently underway,” said a police official.
