Youth injured in firing in Balasore; probe underway

Balasore: A youth sustained critical injuries after he was shot at near Kantabania village over suspected past enmity here on Thursday. The injured youth has been identified as Biranchi Das.

According to sources, an unidentified miscreant fired at Das while the latter was returning home on a bike. Even though Das sustained bullet injuries on his back, somehow he managed to reach the district headquarters hospital.

Sources said at present Das is undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition is stated to be stable.

After being informed Town police reached the hospital and began an investigation into the matter.

“Based on the information provided by Das, we have launched a manhunt to nab the accused,” said Sarojini Nayak, IIC (Inspector-in-Charge) of Town Police Station.
