Youth found dead in office, two including girlfriend detained

Bhubaneswar: Body of a young marine engineer was found inside office of a private company at Buddha Nagar in Bhubaneswar today. Two persons, including the youth's girlfriend were detained by the Laxmisagar police in connection with the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Baijayant Prasad Mohanty, a resident of Cuttack. "The detained duo - Sasmita Mohanty and her male friend Chandan is being interrogated to elicit more information in connection with the death," informed a senior police official.

According to sources, Mohanty was in a relationship with Sasmita. But the duo often quarrelled and was not in good terms. In the meantime, Sasmita came in contact with another youth named Chandan at her office and developed likeness for him.

When Mohanty came to know about it, he approached Sasmita to apologise and resolve their dispute. While Sasmita denied, Mohanty forced her to continue her relationship with him. Later, both Sasmita and Chandan hatched a plan, called Mohanty to the office and strangulated him to death, sources added.

Further investigation into the incident is on and the post-mortem will reveal the exact cause of the death, police said.
