Woman's dead body in car: Husband still absconding; cops intensify probe

Bhubaneswar: Even though more than 24 hours have passed, the Commissionerate Police is yet to get any leads in connection with the death of a woman, whose body was found in a car parked at Sriram Nagar of Bhubaneswar yesterday morning.

Sangram Aich, husband of the deceased identified as Tanuja Aich is still absconding after the incident.

Police have initiated an investigating whether Tanuja was murdered earlier and the body was only placed in the car to mislead the cops. The post mortem report of Tanuja is yet to be received which would confirm the exact cause of death, said police sources.

Sources said police have seized the CCTV footage from a nearby mall which showed Sangram leaving the car & taking his son with him.

On the other hand, family members of Tanuja have alleged that Sangram was torturing her for the last 3 to 4 years and had even threatened to marry another woman. Sangram had illicit relationship with other women and the couple was going through a rough patch, said a relative.

“He murdered Tanuja on Sunday night and placed her body inside the car. In a bid to come clean, he hit the vehicle to give an impression that she died in an accident," said Tanuja's brother, Pritam.

Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu informed that investigation is underway and the culprit will be nabbed soon.

“The exact reason behind the murder can be established only after a detailed probe. As the investigation is underway, it would be inappropriate to comment on the matter” said Sahu.
