Woman's body found hanging, murder over extra-marital affair suspected

Bolangir: Mystery shrouds the death of a woman whose body was found hanging from a tree at Samalei Nagar near Ichhapada in Bolangir district today. The deceased is a resident of Khuntpali village and was missing from her in-laws' house since yesterday.

According to the woman's in-laws, she went missing from the house at 4 PM and today morning locals of Samalei Nagar spotted her hanging from a bael tree near the village.

They alleged before the police that she might have eloped with her male friend who later murdered and hanged her from the tree.

The exact circumstances of the incident, whether it is a murder or a case of suicide, is yet to be ascertained. However sources  said, extra-marital might be the reason behind it.

Police have seized the body and sent for post-mortem. "The exact cause of death would be revealed once the post-mortem reports are received," said Saroj Ranjan Rath, Investigating officer of the case.
