Rourkela: Police have arrested one person for allegedly locking up a woman and her mother inside a house at Basanti Colony in Rourkela for 40 days and harassing them. Both the women were rescued by a team of cops today.

The matter came to light after the husband of the woman, who went missing, lodged a complaint at Tarangpali Police Station. Later, police launched an investigation; however, the breakthrough came after the abducted woman contacted her sister after getting hold of a mobile phone.

Subsequently, the woman's sister informed the Rourkela Police and later on SP's direction, an operation was launched by Uditnagar Police to rescue the woman and her mother.

As per the allegations, the accused used to physically harass the victims. No comments could be obtained from the police.
