Bhubaneswar: Police today recovered bodies of a youth and a girl found hanging from a ceiling fan in a hotel room under Capital Police Station limits area in Bhubaneswar.

Though the exact reason behind their death is yet to be ascertained, police suspect them to have committed suicide.

As per preliminary reports, the deceased have been identified as Subhankar Majhi and Tumparani Pakhira, both residents of Howrah in West Bengal. They were staying in the hotel since May 22.

"When they did not open the door for the service boy, he saw through the window and found them hanging. They claimed to be husband and wife and had arrived here on May 22 at around 6 AM. During the two days they regularly went to tour the city and had also ate their dinner yesterday. They may have hanged themselves in the night. We called the manager and informed police soon after we found them," said a staff of the hotel.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the bodies for post-mortem. A probe has been launched to establish the relationship between the two and the circumstances that led to their death, said sources.
