Two robbers arrested in Balasore; bike seized

Balasore: The Sahadevkhunta Police on Friday arrested two dacoits involved in several crimes in Balasore district. The arrested criminals have been identified as Deepak Behera alias Kalia and Pravakar Mandal.

According to sources, the duo had decamped after snatching a bag containing some cash from a lady at Police line in the town yesterday. However, they were soon caught by police with assistance from local residents while trying to escape from the spot.

“With the help of the locals, our team chased and nabbed the criminals and recovered the stolen items. They are involved in a number of crimes and a bike has been seized from their possession,” said Inspector In-Charge of Sahadevkhunta police station, Sudhansu Sekhar Nayak.

According to police reports, Kalia was involved in several ATM loot cases in the district. Similarly, cases pertaining to snatching and theft are also pending against Mandal at different police stations.

The accused duo will be produced before court today and further investigation regarding their involvement in other crimes is on, added Nayak.
