Balasore: Two unidentified miscreants impersonating as police officers looted gold chain from a nurse near Medical Chhak under Soro police limits in Balasore district Saturday morning.

The matter came to fore after the victim Sunitamani Jena, working as a nurse at Bhadrak Community Health Centre (CHC) lodged a complaint with Soro police.

According to the complaint, she was on her way to the local bus stand from her house at Treasury Chhak at around 9.30 am, when two miscreants posing as cops of Soro police station asked her to take off her gold chain from neck and keep it in her bag.

"They called me and asked to take off the gold chain from neck citing that a woman was murdered here yesterday in a loot attempt. Initially, I did not pay any heed to them and was about to leave when they intercepted me again and insisted to keep the gold chain in my bag," said Sunita.

"As directed by the duo, I took off the chain from my neck and was about to keep it in bag, when they snatched the chain from me and fled the spot," added Sunita.

Meanwhile, police launched a probe into the incident based on the complaint and conducted raids at several places to nab the miscreants.
