Teen girl alleges rape by uncle in Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: A 16-year-old girl from Kalahandi district has alleged that her uncle raped her while she was asleep. Police has launched probe into the matter and the teen girl has moved to a shelter home.

As per reports, the victim had moved with her aunt and uncle after joining a college at Mukhiguda town in the district. The accused man raped her on July 25 while she was asleep at their house, as claimed by the teen girl.

The girl lodged a complaint with Jaipatna police station on Saturday and basing on the complaint the accused has been detained. Police has registered a case under various sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act, informed Susanna Kumar Sahu, Inspector-In-Charge, Jaipatna Police Station.

The teenager was presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Bhawnipatna, which sent her to a shelter home, added the police official.
